TRAVEL PROGRAM UPDATE - MAY, 2021

Hudson Soccer Association (HSA) is very excited to announce the expansion of our successful Western Wisconsin (WW) program that was formed in 2019.  Western Wisconsin Soccer was formed at the 15-18 age levels to enhance their skills and give the girls the opportunity to compete at a high level of competition while also allowing them to get more exposure to potential college coaches at regional tournaments.

This program expansion will now include all Travel teams.  This expansion was designed in collaboration with the HSA Board, EDOC Casey Holm, and parent feedback that we have received over the last couple of years.

Key Highlights:

  • Paid coaches for all levels – The overwhelming majority of parent surveys desired for their child to have a paid coach, regardless of the level of play.  The HSA Board has listened to parents and we agree with them.  By having paid coaches for all players, this will ensure that they get the best programming and designed coaching from truly experienced soccer minds.
  • Changes to the team designations – There will be no longer be A, B or C team designations.  Moving forward, it will be Western Wisconsin FC or Western Wisconsin.
  • 2 or 3 Summer tournaments and 1 Fall tournament (Additional tournaments can be played and is left up to each team)
  • TCSL Fall and Summer League
  • Futsal East (Winter at Stillwater Dome)
  • Winter Stillwater Dome and/or Catalyst Training (WW FC) and Catalyst Training (WW)
  • Attract Players from Western Wisconsin – Although this is affiliated and run by HSA, the Western Wisconsin designation will attract more competitive athletes from all over the area to play at the highest possible levels.
  • New Western Wisconsin branded uniforms

Benefits of Western Wisconsin

  • Developmentally appropriate team formation – raises skill level for all teams
  • Increased player commitment
  • Increased coaching consistency
  • Player retention
  • More competitive teams to play
  • Promotes more local soccer in the area
  • Play in competitive regional tournaments in the fall when MN has High School season
  • Attracts visibility of players to college coaches (as they get older)

If you have any questions about this please contact Casey Holm caseyjholm@gmail.com

We continue to thank all of you for your support and we look forward to getting everyone to be the best they can be within the Hudson Soccer Association and Western Wisconsin Soccer.

TRAVEL PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Western Wisconsin Travel program provides players the opportunity to play competitive soccer. Traveling soccer requires a greater commitment than recreational soccer. The travel program provides quality licensed paid coaches, academy and team training, and year round training.

Travel Program Timeline Overview:

Tryouts are late July/early August.  Teams are announced early August.  Practices begin mid August.   Games are played through the Twin Cities Soccer League (TCSL), and run from early September to the end of October.  Games are either played on our home fields in Hudson or in the East Metro.  Indoor Training is held at Catalyst and runs early November and through April (1-2 times per week).  Teams may also participate in Futsal or other indoor leagues.  Outdoor practices resume in mid April (about 2 times per week).  The Spring/Summer season is played through the Twin Cities Soccer League, and consists of 8-10 games.  Games run from early May to the end of June.

PLEASE NOTE: The Director of Coaching works hard to keep half of the games played on our home fields in Hudson and half in the East Metro.   At older age groups and higher play levels the split between home and away games may be different and games could be anywhere in the metro area.

Tournaments:

All teams will play in Hudson's Rivertown Classic in the Spring and 1 to 2 other tournaments per year.

Tryouts:

All players wanting to be placed on a team must register for tryouts.  If your child is unable to attend tryouts, please contact Casey Holm to make other arrangements.  For dates and times of this year's tryouts, please visit the Tryout FAQ page.

Players are not guaranteed a roster position on any specific team regardless of age or previous team placement.

Financial Assistance:

WW realizes that while our travel costs are relatively low compare to other organizations in the area, there are instances where they may place a financial burden on families.   Our goal is to provide everyone an opportunity to play soccer.  Thanks to our sponsors and fundraising efforts, WW has a great financial assistance program.   If your family would like to complete a financial assistance application please do so at https://www.hudsonsoccer.com/page/show/5092512-financial-assistance.  This application is completely confidential, and only reviewed by two Hudson Soccer board members.

Volunteer: Hudson Soccer is a volunteer based organization and all programs are supported through volunteers. Traveling program parents are required to perform 8 hours of service, per player, with a family maximum of 16 hours, per soccer year (August to July). If you are unable to volunteer, a $160 ($320 family max) non-volunteer fee is required.

Refunds & Placement:

Any player who registers and is placed on a team and then withdraws will forfeit at least the $75 administrative fee. (Exceptions for illness and injury will always be considered).

WW will do everything in is power to find a home for all players but if any player is not placed on a team they will receive a full refund.

Please refer to the refund policy for complete details.
